Exosome in Delivery of SiRNA

Small RNAs such as small interfering RNAs (siRNA) have promise as anticancer therapeutics due to their ability to post-transcriptionally control oncogene expression levels. However, naked small RNAs are not able to cross cell membrane due to degradation by extracellular nucleases and rapid filtration from bloodstream. The use of exosomes, which have emerged as promising potential delivery vehicles for therapeutic RNAs due to their status as natural carriers of siRNAs. Therefore, my research is focus on using exosomes to protectively deliver SiRNAs in order to silence gene of interest.
