ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks applications and nominations for a tenure-track position in ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level. The successful candidate will support the mission of the Department of Chemistry, especially initiatives in nanoscale science or biochemistry, and will have a strong commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds. Appointment to the position will be effective August 15, 2013. Required qualifications: a Ph.D. in chemistry or related area; relevant postdoctoral, academic or industrial experience; a commitment to establishing a productive, externally funded research program; and a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
We especially welcome applications from chemists interested in developing collaborations through participation in any of several interdisciplinary initiatives on campus, including the interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Nanoscale Science, the Bioinformatics Research Center, the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Science (CBES), the Ph.D. Program in Biology, the Center for Infrastructure, Design, Environment, and Sustainability (IDEAS), the Energy Production Infrastructure Center (EPIC), and the Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications. Opportunities are also available to collaborate with investigators at the local Carolinas Medical Center. A unique opportunity exists to network with the nearby North Carolina Research Campus, a $1.5 billion 350-acre biotechnology research park that brings together research programs of private biotechnology companies, six North Carolina research universities, and several health care organizations.
